Hi, I’m Christine Cooper,
Let me tell you a bit about my journey:
I have always enjoyed drawing, painting and sewing and am I am lucky enough to teach classes in drawing, painting, patchwork and quilting, and free motion quilting / embroidery, so I’m doing something I love and earning a living.
Training: I returned to my love of painting and drawing in 1992 as a student at Adult Education. In 1996 I went to ECAT (now Sussex Downs College), where I did a BTEC in Art and Design, studying a wide range of techniques and media, including drawing, painting, printing and illustration. I was hooked! My one year turned into 7 years.
Teaching: I began teaching in 1998 with Uckfield Adult Education, where I also started studing Teacher Training for Post – Compulsory Education. Then in 2006 I began running my own classes, where I teach 3 classes a week, at Five Ash Down, Horam and Fairwarp.
I also teach 1 to 1 classes. This provides the student with exactly what they want to learn Students learn very quickly on a one to one basis. It is great to see the concentration and determination to succeed.
At last year’s Art Trail I met six artists who live in the New Town area of Uckfield. We have formed a group called New Town Arts Collective. We will be Exhibiting together in Crowborough and East Grinstead later this year.
